MEET CHEMISTRY

Black Women

Hi, I am Chemistry Novels. Welcome to my page of an amazing recipe dedicated to Black girls all over the world who desires to be celebrated, motivated, and appreciated.

This safe space was created for my Sistahs who struggle with self-love and self-care in a toxic environment that doesn't allow us enough room to isolate and be free.

Born as Latifah Monique Scurlock March 28, 1990, I am a Black girl, just like you, raised in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago, IL. It was in my hometown where I learned to overcome gangs & gun violence, beat the odds of teenage pregnancy, and avoid becoming a statistic in the Juvenile court system. Chicago is not all that it portrays in the media. Outside of two violent neighborhoods
it is truly a beautiful tourist city. It made me the great woman that I am today.

Upon graduating from Percy L. Julian High School I went on to study Radio, News, and Television at "Thee" Tennessee State University, a HBCU, where I earned a Bachelors of Arts and Science Degree in Communication May of 2013.

I currently serve as a Logistics Supply SGT in the U.S Military.

As I grew older and began to build my résumé in many work environments, I discovered that I had no space to exist, no room to breathe, and no place to feel comfortable in my skin. I felt smothered with the excessive amount of attention because I stood out as a double minority; A Black woman. I couldn't just simply exist without constantly being stereotyped or noticed for the littlest things from the texture of my hair to my "exotic" cultural traits and features.

So I created a safe environment for myself and others like me to feel embraced, loved, and wanted.

I welcome you into this space of acceptance and nourishment for the Black girl who wants to just simply ... be.

To learn more about me follow me on instagram @school_daze. I follow back!

I love you Queens. I pray that you grow to love me too.
